Corduroy, January 6, 2026
This handsome little guy is loved by all of our staff and volunteers, but we just can’t seem to find him a home for some reason. Corduroy is an amazing, resilient boy who has faced a lot of trauma and uncertainty in his life so far. He was in terrible shape when he arrived here, but he’s made so much progress with us. He’s still building back his confidence, so he’d love to find a calmer home. Corduroy is about 1-2 years old and 44 pounds. He requires a meet with other dogs (no small dogs and no cats) and would be most comfortable around older children (12+). Corduroy is a chill guy who enjoys plenty of couch time and a Zen atmosphere. He will need plenty of decompression, guidance, and reassurance from his new family, but he will repay you with unwavering loyalty and love. Please help us share this amazing pup. GCAC’S ‘MOST SOULFUL EYES’ AWARD GOES TO … COACH! This handsome, perfect boy is the biggest love bug in the world. He’s calm, cool, and collected… just a great guy all around. Coach arrived here as a stray, and we don’t think he’s had the best life so far. He’s looking for a family that will spoil him like the prince that he absolutely is and shower him with unconditional love. Coach is about 1.5-2 years old, 54 pounds, and dog friendly with proper introductions. He loves people, and we think he would do well with children of all ages (as long as they are gentle and respectful of his space). He requires a meet with children under the age of 5 to ensure that they will be a great fit. This tricolor pittie mix is truly special, and he has stolen all of our hearts very quickly. Lil Homie is an incredibly sweet, loving, amazing pittie mix with the biggest heart and most soulful eyes. He hasn’t had the best life and appears to have had an embedded collar in the past. It breaks our hearts to see so many animals being treated with such little respect and kindness. Despite experiencing neglect and abandonment, this boy is a LOVE! He’s affectionate, goofy, and playful. He loves butt scratches and getting the zoomies. Lil Homie is about 5 years old and 59 pounds. He requires a meet with other dogs living in the home to make sure they are a good fit for one another. He loves people but would do best with older children who respect his space and boundaries. Marty McFly hasn’t had any interest! Marty is a goofy, playful boy with a huge personality. He loves toys and is very food motivated, which will help tremendously with training efforts. He’s energetic and likes to parkour off his handler, so he’s definitely looking for an active home. He would love to have a fenced in yard. This floppy-eared prince is about 1-year-old and 47 pounds. He appears to be dog friendly but is a vocal player, so a meet and greet is always a great idea. He’s still working on his manners, so we recommend a home with older children (8-10+). Marty is going to be so grateful to whoever adopts him and gives him a second chance at a life filled with happiness and love. This handsome, smooshy boy is a big, lovable goober. He absolutely loves attention and affection, and despite his 68-pound status, he wholeheartedly believes that he’s a lap dog. King James is a 3-year-old pittie mix looking for an active home where he is finally able to be happy and carefree. He’s energetic, playful, and spunky, and he would absolutely love to find a home with a fenced in yard. He’s very food motivated, which will help a ton when it comes to training efforts. King James requires a meet with other dogs living in the home and would do best with older children (we recommend 10+). He will need a patient, committed adopter that is willing to work with him on his manners. He’s large and in charge, so a strong handler would be ideal. This gorgeous husky mix is looking for an active family that will take him on all the walks, hikes, and adventures that he could possibly dream of. He would love to find someone that is experienced with the breed. Bolt is about 2 years old and 58 pounds. He’s a super smartie who already knows sit, down, shake, and high five! It’s clear that somebody took the time to work with him … how he ended up here, we have no idea. Bolt requires a meet with other dogs living in the home and would do best with older children. He is very food motivated and eager to learn. He’s such a nice boy and the perfect balance of chill and active. This sweet, sassy little bug is only 10 months old and 38 pounds. She’s just a little loaf of bread, and her superpower is putting a smile on everyone’s face within seconds! Piglet is one of the sweetest, happiest pups we’ve ever met. She appears to be dog friendly with proper intros, and we think she would do well with children of all ages as long as they are respectful of her space. She’s still learning and will need plenty of guidance and patience. A picture seriously does not do this girl justice … she’s the cutest, pudgiest little princess of all time!! She’s playful, affectionate, and snuggly and she can’t wait to find a forever family that will love her unconditionally. UPDATE: Piglet found a home!
Reef, February 24, 2026
This isn’t Reef’s first time at GCAC. He was actually adopted from us back in 2020. You read that right … he’s been gone for SIX YEARS. The first photo shows Reef back in 2020 when he was just a 1-2 year old young man. The other photos show Reef today – a heartbroken senior who doesn’t understand what went wrong. As you can imagine, Reef is not doing well being back at the shelter. The moment he was placed into a kennel, he was miserable and so stressed. He’s confused, heartbroken, and anxious. He can’t understand that he truly didn’t do anything wrong and that life circumstances made it impossible for his owner to be able to keep him. She loved him very much. Reef spends much of his 23.5 hours a day in the kennel pacing, barking, whining, and begging to spend just 5 more minutes outside. Even with extra exercise, enrichment, and lovins, he panics the moment it’s time to go back. He is breaking our hearts, and he needs a hero. He met several families at our adoption event and did wonderful! He was such a social butterfly even amongst the chaos. But unfortunately, he was one of the few pups not chosen. Reef is looking for a home where he is able to be spoiled and given plenty of TLC. He’s about 7 years old and 66 pounds. He requires a meet with other dogs and would prefer to live in a cat-free home. He loves people but would do best with older kids. Reef is playful, goofy, and people oriented. This sweet senior is looking for a patient, committed adopter to give him a stable, cozy home for the rest of his days. He’s about 6-7 years old and 73 pounds, and he appears to be a shepherd mix. He’d love to find someone experienced with the breed! Paw Paw is looking for a home where he can be your one and only (meaning no other dogs or cats). It’s not that he doesn’t like other animals, but he is not a fan of sharing his food or toys. To ensure the safety and comfort of him as well as other dogs or cats, he needs to be the only pet in the home. Paw Paw may be a senior, but he’s full of spunk and energy. He’s a super sniffer who loves to explore his surroundings and play with toys, especially those with a squeaker in them. This sweetheart is still just a puppy – only about 10-12 months old! She has marks on her neck from a chain and severely flea/fly bitten ears, leading us to believe that she spent all of her time outside in a backyard. Despite this, she’s the most affectionate, cuddly, amazing girl. She’s eager to make up for lost time with a wonderful family that adores and spoils her. Chessie is medium sized at 46 pounds … perfect for your lap. She’s a bit timid with new people and the leash, but once she’s had a couple minutes to warm up, she will be right by your side waiting for love and attention. Some of her mannerisms lead us to believe that she was abused, so she’s looking for someone to show her nothing but love and kindness. This beautiful princess hasn’t shown much interest in other dogs, so it’s best to bring your pups up for a meet and greet. She would feel more comfortable around older children who respect her space. This is a face we’re sure many of you recognize and remember. She’s been in and out of our shelter a few times now – each reason different than the last. Just because it didn’t work out in these homes doesn’t mean that Sandy is any less lovable. It doesn’t mean she’s flawed. It just means that she will need a specific type of home, and we haven’t quite found that yet. Sandy’s most recent return showed us that she needs to be the only animal in the home (no other dogs or cats). With all she’s been through, she not only needs to be someone’s one and only, but she deserves it. She deserves to be pampered and spoiled and to consume all the love and attention you have to give. Confusion and new starts have sadly been the biggest constants in her life so far … but she’s ready for that to change. Sandy is a beautiful pittie mix with a huge heart. She’s about 3 years old and 70 pounds of sweetness and goofball energy. She’s a big snack girl, which will be great for learning additional tricks and commands. She’s very playful and energetic, so she will need an active home where she is able to get plenty of playtime and exercise. This handsome little king is only about 1 year old and 32 pounds. He is the sweetest, most precious boy you will ever meet, and he deserves the whole entire world. Jameson came from a really bad situation where humans were extremely cruel to him. Despite how young he is, his body is already littered with scars. He has endured neglect and abuse and yet, he’s the most gentle, friendly little bug. He’s stealing hearts left and right, and he really is a special pup. Jameson requires a meet with other dogs living in the home and would do best with older children who respect his space and boundaries. He does require a meet with kids under the age of 5. This sweetheart of a pup is an absolute beauty queen. She’s one of our most photogenic residents, and she can’t wait to take photos with her forever family. Lemon is a happy, wiggly girl who loves to run and play. She has a curious nature and loves to explore the world around her. She would love to explore the neighborhood or local nature trails with her new best friends. Lemon would love to find a home with a fenced in yard. She’s energetic and still has a lot of puppy mannerisms, so exercise and playtime will be very important for her. She can be a bit jumpy at times, but she’s polite about it. This beautiful girl is so ready to leave her shelter days behind her. She’s been feeling pretty lonely here at the shelter, and she is so excited to meet her forever family. Petunia loves people – she greets everyone with a wagging tail and a big smile. She’s definitely a social butterfly when it comes to humans, but she’s much more choosy when it comes to other dogs. What can we say, she’s a girl with standards! Petunia is estimated to be about 4.5 years old, which is a great age if you’re looking for a dog that’s out of the crazy puppy stage but also not geriatric. Bishop is about 6 years old and 72 pounds of chunky perfection. He’s friendly, affectionate, and silly, and he’s going to bring so much laughter to his new family. He was house trained in his last home and is a potty holder here at the shelter. Bishop is looking for a calm home where he is able to decompress and relax. This regal, distinguished gentleman is back at the shelter and searching for his true forever home. We have learned that he needs to find a family with no feline friends. Benedict is not handling the return well – no dog really ever does. He is drowning in feelings of loneliness, confusion, anxiety, and frustration and the only cure is the stability and care of a forever home. Benedict is about 1.5 years old and 73 pounds. He requires a meet with other dogs living in the home and would do best with older children (10+). He’s very shy at first but he warms up with time and patience. He’s food motivated and eager to learn. He has both an independent and an affectionate side. He would greatly benefit from having a fenced in yard as he is playful, strong, and energetic. Corn Chip is not doing well at the shelter. He’s extremely anxious in his kennel, and he’s having a really hard time settling out of the kennel. The shelter setting is extremely difficult for some dogs, and we need to find this boy his forever home ASAP. Corn Chip has the saddest eyes in the whole world. He’s the kind of dog that makes us stop in our tracks, our eyes welling up with tears. He seems to be carrying an unimaginable amount of heartbreak, and it’s almost too much for us to bear. He deserves the moon, the stars, and the whole galaxy! He arrived here as a stray, and as you can see, he’s not in the best shape. He has been neglected, and his skin is very irritated due to mange. The good news is that he will look and feel much better with time and medication. Corn Chip is estimated to be 2 years old and 57 pounds. He hasn’t shown much interest in other dogs, so we highly recommend bringing any potential canine roommates along for the meet. He would feel most comfortable around older kids (8+) who respect his space and boundaries. He’s shy at first with new people and places but once he’s had some time to warm up, he’s wiggly, happy, and so loving. He knows ‘sit’ and is eager to please. Nana is the perfect companion for someone who enjoys a good mix of chilling at home on the couch and going on walks and adventures. She’s also a smart cookie who already knows ‘sit’, ‘stay’, and ‘lay down.’ Nana is looking for a home where she can be your one and only. He’s a boy on the go, and 15 minutes out of the kennel a day is just not cutting it. With his short little legs and long tail, we believe that Pepé may be a pittie-hound mix of sorts. He’s about 1-2 years old and 55 pounds. He would do best in an active home with kids that are a little bit older as he is very energetic and still working on his manners. This majestic creature is ready for a fresh start with a committed family that spoils her like the princess she is. She’s an incredibly sweet girl who deserves all the happiness in the world. Reagan arrived here as a stray and unfortunately hadn’t been given the vetting that is so important in order for dogs to be healthy by the humans of her past. To the naked eye, she looks great – she’s not underweight, she’s not covered in scars, etc. The hidden threat that affects so many dogs (including Reagan) is heartworm. Heartworm is extremely easy to prevent but fatal if left untreated. Reagan is currently on a medication that is prepping her body for heartworm treatment, and we would love to get her adopted sooner rather than later so she can go through said treatment in a loving, peaceful home. Once through this process, she’ll be a healthy, happy dog again! Reagan is about 3 years old and 66 pounds. She requires a meet with other dogs living in the home and would feel most at ease around older children (8+ recommended). She does require a meet with kids five years of age and under. If this adorable face looks familiar to you, it’s because she was adopted from us back in 2024. Returns are so hard on these sweet pups, and we’d love to get her readopted as quickly as possible. The family that had adopted Swedish was having a difficult time keeping her from escaping the yard and home, so for this pup’s safety as well as everyone’s comfort, she was brought back to us. Swedish is about 2.5 years old, 56 pounds, and dog friendly (with slow and proper intros, of course). Doughboy is an absolute angel who deserves to be protected at all costs. When he arrived here, he was so scared that he wasn’t interested in interacting with anyone – that was way too scary for this boy at the time. As the days passed by, he started to see that nobody was going to hurt him and that humans aren’t so bad after all … at least not the humans of GCAC. Doughboy definitely hasn’t had the best life so far, and he’s still healing from his severe skin issues. He must have been very uncomfortable and itchy for quite some time. He’s also very flinchy with fast movements and loud noises, a telltale sign of a lack of socialization and potential abuse. Once you earn this boy’s trust, he opens up and shares more of his personality with you. He’s the sweetest, most precious boy, and it’s been an honor to be able to get to know the real Doughboy. Going forward, Doughboy needs a calm home, a patient adopter, and time to rebuild his confidence. He loves scratches and is very loving when given time to build trust. A quieter home with older children (teens+) would be most ideal for him. He’s about 4 years old, 69 pounds, and dog friendly when properly introduced. Axel can be a little nervous and unsure with new environments and humans, so he’s looking for someone that will allow him to go at his own pace and take things one day at a time. This sweet girl has definitely been a momma before, and she wasn’t living in the most peaceful of environments, so we’re looking for a special human to be her hero. Matilda is about 4 years old and 58 pounds. She’s looking for a home where she can be your one and only (no other dogs or cats). Because of her timid nature, she will do best in a family with older children (teens+). She will need a calm home and a patient adopter so she can rebuild her shattered confidence. Is this girl not the cutest little bug you’ve ever seen!? She is missing an eye (and we’re not quite sure what the story is there), but she gets around just fine and has leaned into the fact that she now has a permanent wink. Cutie is about 6 years old and 37 pounds. She requires a meet with other dogs living in the home and would feel most comfortable around older children (teens+). She will need to find a family with no cats and no small dogs. Cutie’s friends describe her as the perfect pup. She’s independent, sweet, and sassy. This beautiful girl is barely hanging on. Some dogs simply cannot handle life at the shelter. The loneliness, anxiety, and confinement can be too much to bear, especially if it’s a dog who once had a home and a family. This is what our suspicion is with Effie, and why her people never came back for her, we will probably never know. Effie is a timid girl looking for a patient, committed adopter to give her a stable home and unconditional love. She’s a very sweet pup who just needs a chance. She’s smart, affectionate, and silly – the kind of dog that anybody would be lucky to have. Effie is about 3 years old and 62 pounds. She appears to be dog friendly, but it’s always best to bring any potential canine roommates along for the meet. She would prefer to find a family with older children (8+ recommended) since her confidence has been so shaken. We know that this girl is going to blossom in a home. This handsome pup is the absolute sweetest. He’s super affectionate and definitely velcro dog material. Boop is happiest when he’s with his people. He just wants to feel safe and loved. He loves butt scratches, attention, and snuggles and is going to be such a wonderful addition to a loving family. Boop arrived with some skin issues and unfortunately was not given the vet care he needed, but he’s ready to find a family that will put in the effort and care that he so deserves. This cutie is about 5-6 years old and 62 pounds. He hasn’t shown much interest in other dogs here, so it would be best to bring any potential canine roommates along for a proper meet. He adores people and we believe he will do well with children of all ages (meets required with kids five and under). Anybody would be so lucky to call this boy family!

This handsome, soulful, squishy prince is quickly becoming a fan favorite here at GCAC. He’s our resident teddy bear. This distinguished gentleman is timid with new people and places, quick movements, and loud noises, so he likes to stay close to his people for reassurance and comfort. He will lean his whole body into you and soak up all your love and attention… that is, until he gets a quick burst of spontaneous zoomies. It’s truly the cutest thing in the world. Raymond is about 2 years old, 71 pounds, and dog friendly with proper introductions. He would love to find a calmer home with older children (8+) as he is still working on his confidence.
