Scholars on Tap: How Immigrants Experience and Perceive Genesee County

A new “Scholars on Tap” event will bring University of Michigan-Flint researchers to Tenacity Brewing in downtown Flint on Monday, Feb. 9 at 5:30 p.m. Dr. Sasha Drummond-Lewis, Dr. Jennifer Alvey and Dr. Emily Feuerherm will present “Welcome to Flint! How immigrants experience and perceive Genesee County,” highlighting survey and focus group findings from immigrants and international students collected between 2024 and 2026. The discussion will explore the growing role of newcomers in the region, including their economic impact, lived experiences and ideas for building a more inclusive community. The event is part of a casual public lecture series hosted by several local colleges and universities and will take place at 119 N. Grand Traverse St. in Flint.
