Friends of the Flint River Trail Bike Ride

July 19 @ 2:15 pm

Sunday Bike Rides, Every Sunday May – October
Meet at 2:15, ride starts at 2:30pm.
1st, 3rd, & 5th Sunday at Bluebell Beach
2nd & 4th Sunday at Chevy Commons, Kearsley St. parking lot.

2nd Saturday Bike Ride, May – October
Meet at 9:45am, ride starts at 10 am.
Trailhead at various locations around Mid-Michigan.
Location to be announced at Sunday rides and on FaceBook.

Arrive with bike ready to ride at 2:15, ride starts at 2:30pm.
Sign in with QR code or on attendance sheet.
Helmets are STRONGLY recommended.
Listen to and stay behind ride leader.
Pay attention to sweeps at all intersections/street crossings.
Stay to right of trail/road when stopped & allow sweeps to come forward.
Travel to the right of the trail/road & obey the rules of the road.
Alert pedestrians/other cyclists when nearing them.
Try to always pass on the left and call out “On your left”.
Signal when stopping for rest or emergency, move completely off the trail.
Never ride more than two abreast on the road, and only if traffic allows.
Don’t ride too close to the person in front of you, except at crossings.

Echo (repeat) call outs (directions or warnings):
“Car UP” (car is approaching from front similarly, Bike Up, Walker UP)
“Car BACK” (car is approaching from behind)
“Glass”, “Pothole”, or any other hazard (accompanied by pointing to it)
“Single File” (when trail is narrow or other users are present)

Watch for and use hand signals:
Right Turn; right arm extended straight out to the right.
Left Turn: Left arm extended straight out to the left.
Stopping/Slowing: left arm straight down with palm facing rearward.

Sweeps will assist with minor bike repairs/issues.
Avoid wearing headphones, be aware of what is happening around you.
Decisions to cancel ride for inclement weather will be decided at ride site.
