SUMMARY:Blackbird by Intrepid Theatre at Good Beans Café
DESCRIPTION:Blackbird is like eavesdropping on the most shocking conversation you’ve ever heard . . . \nUna\, a 27-year-old woman\, has tracked down Ray\, a 55-year-old man\, with whom she shares a dark past. The story unfolds and raw emotions run high as they revisit the passionate relationship they had fifteen years ago\, when he was forty and she was only twelve.  This complex drama depicts a story about an unconventional love and the crippling effects of abuse.  Controversial in its nature\, it breaks boundaries and poses serious questions about society and morality. \nAn opportunity for two gifted actors the opportunity to stretch and flex. \nThis intense work was commissioned by the Edinburgh International Festival\, where it received its world premiere. Blackbird won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play in 2007 and was Tony-nominated for its revival on Broadway in 2016. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Intrepid Theatre\n\nThe Intrepid Theatre was founded in 2024 by friends and collogues\, Connor Klee and Lindsay Brownfield\, with a passion to provide mid-Michigan communities with bold\, fearless\, and ambitious theatre that ignites discovery and empowers audiences and artists.\nOur drive to create thrilling\, courageous and provocative art in a thoughtful and inclusive environment informs the company’s every choice\, from programming to administrating. \nWe are a growing\, greatly ambitious theatre company looking to support local artists and theatre makers across mid-Michigan. As we continue to stretch and expand we ask for the support of our neighbors and community so we may bring stories to those who love them. \n\n\n\n\n\n	Related
