SUMMARY:Ghost Light Cabaret: April Fools! Going Against Type
DESCRIPTION:A ghost light is a single bulb left burning in a theater between performances\, when the space is “dark.” A combination of safety\, tradition\, and superstition\, the ghost light helps us avoid unseen obstacles in an unoccupied theater and keeps any artistic spirits who might reside there happy while the theater is unused. This season\, as the Bower undergoes renovation and the Elgood remains dark to accommodate construction\, Flint Rep’s Ghost Light Cabaret series will be keeping the lights on in our home venue. Join us on the first Wednesday of the month in the Elgood Lobby\, transformed into an intimate club-style performance venue\, for these one-night-only evenings of curated music\, storytelling\, and fun. \nRuntime: 75 minutes\, no intermission \nTickets starting at $24.90 / $18.60 for Genesee County residents (total price includes fees) \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Mark Farner's American Band
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, March 20 at 8:00pm\nFIM Capitol Theatre \nLegendary all-American frontman and guitarist Mark Farner was the engine that repeatedly pulled the original Grand Funk Railroad to the top of the charts\, and today he’s a platinum recording artist 30 times over. At age 70\, Farner commands the stage with the same intensity and outpouring of love as he did in 1969\, and his fans are still flocking to see “the Captain.” His epic hits defined a generation — from “I’m Your Captain (Closer to Home)” to “We’re An American Band\,” from “Heartbreaker” to “Bad Time To Be In Love\,” along with covers of “The Loco-Motion” and “Some Kind of Wonderful.” \nHowever\, being viewed as a “rock star” is only one small facet of this Michigan-born son. “I think our fans originally connected to our songs because we were sincere\,” Farner said. \nFarner\, a true patriot\, works tirelessly to honor our nation’s service personnel and military veterans wherever they are stationed. He wants everyone to remember the huge sacrifices the men and women in the armed services make for us – all to protect our amazing country and freedoms. \nNow\, more than 50 years into his career\, something magical still happens when Farner takes the stage. His voice is still strong\, his guitar playing is still slick and lighting quick\, and his trademark swagger still commands the stage\, still mesmerizing audiences around the world. \n“I love playing live where I can connect with people of all backgrounds\,” he said. “It’s all about the fans…and all about love.” \nTickets start at $46 / $33 for Genesee County residents (total price includes fees) \n\n\n	Related

The result is both explosive and deeply dynamic\, creating a space where aggression and vulnerability intertwine. The band’s debut full-length\, Get Fucked\, Sinner!\, dropped April 4th 2025 via Freak Baby Records. “It’s equal parts raw confessional\, grief exorcism\, and journey of healing\, and is one of the singular records of the year to date.” – Brian Stout – PopMatters. SUMMARY:Ghost Light Cabaret: Women Who Rock
SUMMARY:Flint Under the Stars: Local Flint Legends
DESCRIPTION:Flint Under the Stars: Local Flint Legends\nKinetic Stereokids and Billy O’Neill of Oh My God \nMinimum $5 donation\nDuring the 20 year closure of FIM Capitol Theatre\, music continued to thrive in downtown Flint at spaces including The Loft\, Metropolis\, and Flint Local 432. Due to the long closure\, many of the bands that dominated downtown Flint in the early 2000s did not have the opportunity to perform under the starry dome of FIM Capitol Theatre. In February 2026\, we’re changing that and taking you down memory lane with Flint Under the Stars: Local Flint Legends featuring Kinetic Stereokids\, Billy O’Neill of Oh My God\, and special guest artist Andrew Sartwell. \nBilly O’Neill of Oh My God. Formed in 1999 in Chicago\, Oh My God quickly gained popularity in the early 2000’s with their unique sound and energetic live shows\, fronted by their famously charismatic lead singer and bassist\, Billy O’Neill. The band was signed to Split Red Records and toured across the US and beyond for over a decade\, including one of their favorite tour stops\, Flint\, where they played dozens of shows and established a large fanbase. The band parted ways in the mid-2010’s to pursue other projects\, and Billy has since gone on to write\, record and perform live music with a number of successful groups. In response to the undying devotion of the fans\, Billy is bringing back the Oh My God catalog in 2026. He will be joined by Joshua Varichak on drums and Jamison Fernandez on guitar\, keys and backing vocals. With an electric guitar replacing the organ\, the group offers a fresh take on the songs while still invoking the iconic spirit of classic Oh My God. \nKinetic Stereokids are an experimental indie rock band from Flint\, Michigan\, known for a sound that fuses rock\, hip-hop\, and electronic sampling into something both raw and carefully constructed. Emerging in the early 2000s from the Rust Belt’s gritty landscape\, the band built music rooted in classic rock traditions while pushing into collage\, texture\, and abstraction. Formed by four high school friends\, Kinetic Stereokids began as a creative refuge during a period of economic decline and social strain in Flint. Basement rehearsals turned into a full-scale project that blended live instrumentation with layered sampling\, tape collage\, and found sound. Their debut album\, Basement Kids (Overdraft Recordings\, 2007)\, captured that hybrid energy and quickly drew attention beyond Michigan\, allowing them to tour across the Midwest and beyond. Kinetic Stereokids’ sound pulls equally from experimental rock and hip-hop lineage. Their music integrates snippets of dialogue\, laughter\, and electronic noise into melodic frameworks\, creating songs that feel cinematic\, restless\, and emotionally grounded. Operating largely within the indie underground\, their work stands as a document of Flint’s resilience\, transforming limitation into invention and hardship into sound that still feels urgent\, strange\, and alive. \nOur special guest opener\, Andrew Sartwell\, is continuing the tradition of making music in our city! Andrew is a musician and artist who has lived and worked in the city of Flint for over 15 years. He was the singer and one of the creative figures in the band Sadie Lee and also the sole creator of the project Yo. Bro. His music is influenced by folk-punk and lo-fi/emo\, along with artists like Bob Dylan and Charles Bukowski. \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Black Violin Full Circle Tour
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, February 13 at 8:00pm\nFIM Capitol Theatre \n\n\nFor nearly two decades\, Black Violin has been merging string arrangements with modern beats and vocals and building bridges in communities along the way. Members Kev Marcus and Wil Baptiste first met in orchestra class at Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale\, becoming classically trained on the violin and viola through their high school and college careers. Post-college\, they reconvened to produce beats for South Florida rappers\, and began building an audience in local clubs. They later went on to win Showtime at the Apollo in 2005\, and eventually sold out headline performances at venues across the country\, including a sold out two-night headline run at The Kennedy Center in 2018. \nBlack Violin plays roughly 200 shows a year; many of which are performances for young\, low-income students in urban communities. In the last year alone\, the group has played for over 100\,000 students with the goal of challenging stereotypes and preconceived notions of what a “classical musician” looks and sounds like. \n“The stereotypes are always there\, embedded so deep in our culture\,” says Wil. “Just by nature of our existence we challenge those ideas. It’s a unique thing that brings people together who aren’t usually in the same room\, and in the current climate\, it’s good to bring people together.” \nIn 2019\, the group launched the Black Violin Foundation Inc.\, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth by providing access to quality music programs in their community. BVF believes that music and access to music programs should not be determined by race\, gender\, or socio-economic status. Black Violin Foundation’s inaugural program\, the Musical Innovation Grant for Continuing Education\, will provide scholarships to young music students to attend a program of their liking that fosters musical creativity and innovation. \nFor more info on the Black Violin Foundation: http://www.blackviolinfoundation.org \nVIP Package Available. Enjoy the Full Circle Tour Experience! \nTickets start at $46 / $33 for Genesee County residents (total price includes fees) \n\nExclusive FIM presale is Thursday\, November 20 from 10:00am-10:00pm \n(use promo code NEWCAP25)\nPublic tickets on sale Friday\, November 21 at 10:00am\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn more\n\n\n\n\n	Related
